ten Christian books for women
What a blessing to spend time reading books that encourage you in your walk of faith. I still feel very strongly about the Word being my predominant source of Christian reading, but I would be amiss to forget about the Christian books that have influenced me. Authors with a heart for Christ and writing about issues we struggle with as women have their very important place!
Keep reading for my list of ten Christian books for women. Please comment below as I would love any other books you would recommend and I will continue to add to this list as I find new material.
books
- True Woman 101: Divine Design: An Eight-Week Study on Biblical Womanhood by Mary A Kassian and Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth
- Whether you want to read it alone or with a group, the Biblical background behind how God designed us and what He says about us is life changing.
- True Woman 201: Interior Design – Ten Elements of Biblical Womanhood by Mary A Kassian and Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth
- Worthwhile, impactful sequel to the previous book
- The King’s Decree: Throne Room Declarations that Release Supernatural Answers to Prayer by Josie Hughes
- This book is spiritual FIRE. If you need some encouraging testimonies and want to see the extreme miracles that God can work in your life, check this out.
- How Can I Feel Productive as a Mom? Cultivating Biblical Godliness by Esther Engelsma
- This book is an extremely short book that would work great in a hard season since its such a quick way to gain wisdom. Would make a great gift.
- Lies Women Believe: And the Truth that Sets Them Free by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth
- ANYTHING to debunk lies we may believe is going to catch my eye. It is the truth that sets us FREE!
- Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth
- Particularly in seasons of grief or trial, this book couldn’t prove to be more pertinent. She also includes a 30 day Gratitude Challenge which, realistically, would be helpful to any of us at any season of life.
- Boundaries Updated and Expanded Edition: When to Say Yes, How to Say No To Take Control of Your Life by Henry Cloud and John Townsend
- This book contains extremely important information for every human to know to ensure you can take care of your responsibilities in life and not worry so much about other people’s issues. It offers insight on how to preserve yourself in situations with difficult people. Finally I discovered the reasons behind why I felt unsure about someone or myself in certain situations! This can be particularly applicable in our interactions with other believers and the sometimes “guilt” that can arise when it comes to spiritual matters or being a good steward in the church.
- Under Cover: Why Your Response to Leadership Determines Your Future by John Bevere
- I read this book almost 20 years ago, and full disclosure, I have not re-read the updated version. I still think back to concepts I learned in this book and they still apply to situations I have encountered and things I have learned in my walk with Christ.
- Captivating Expanded Edition: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul by John and Stasi Eldredge
- Also a book I read many years ago, but was foundational in awakening my realization of who God created me to be as a woman. I am thankful for books like this that softened my heart and started opening my eyes to my value as a woman.
- Chop Wood Carry Water: How to Fall in Love with the Process of Becoming Great by Joshua Medcalf
- Sometimes our microwave society leads us to believe things are taking too long and we are falling short. This book is a friendly reminder for what it takes in life to achieve our goals.
parenting/homeschooling
- This book was excellent. After a hard homeschooling year, this book helped me align homeschooling with my priorities and trust myself a little more with my ideas and priorities for my daughter’s education.
2. Purposeful Parenting: Allowing God to Change Your Heart so He Can Reach Theirs by Tyra Lane-Kingsland
- This book is written by a woman’s ministry director who has a wealth of knowledge but isn’t a technical writer. Regardless she has great wisdom and the book helped shape my heart and renew my perspective on parenting.
3. M is for Mama by Abbie Halberstadt
- A refreshing, “real” read about motherhood and it’s struggles but how to succeed and grow stronger through it rather than giving up and accepting our mess as it is “normal”.
Devotionals
Life of Jesus in 30 Days: CSB Edition
- I’m currently going through this devotional, I was lent it by a friend and it is EXCELLENT. Life changing. I absolutely love the prompts and rote prayers for repentance in the evenings. It’s mostly scripture and includes some historical rote prayers.
Thank you so much for reading! Reading is such a wonderful, relaxing, renewing habit and is much more worthwhile than using electronics. It’s my daily way to decompress and give my brain and eyes a workout instead of stressing them out 🙂
I pray the Lord leads you to the right books to read that will encourage your faith and help you grow in Him with every word. May He continue to build on this habit and guide you and lead you where He would have you go. Lord, bring peace that overshadows the demands and exhaustions of this life. Help us have a greater trust in You and choose faith over fear in our every thought and choice. Thank you for saving us and being with us every step of the way.
