macro family turkey lettuce wraps
Don’t you just love a quick meal that you can feel good about and can whip up in less than 30 minutes? Bonus points for me if its not very pricy 🙂 These macro family friendly quick turkey lettuce wraps are that meal!
why turkey for these lettuce wraps?
I have always had this recipe in my recipe book for ground chicken. I decided this could work well for macros, so I put the recipe ingredients on my shopping list. But when I went to the store the ground chicken was SO pricy! Ground turkey goes on sale on a rotating basis at my grocery store and I decided it wasn’t that different so I was going to give it a try. Added bonus is that when it goes on sale I have a built-in reminder to make this meal 🙂
What makes a meal macro friendly?
My key for a macro friendly meal is that the ingredients are mostly separate so they can be weighed separately. I prefer to use fresh herbs and vinegars which have no calorie content. If there are any sauces I look that they are low cal. Mustard, Ketchup, soy sauce fit in this category. This works for me because sometimes I decide to be lazy and not create a recipe in MM+ and just track the weight of my cooked ingredients and skip tracking the sauces. To minimize the amount of error when I do that, I try to keep things as separate and low cal as possible.
finding some delicious add-ons
We had some cashews we needed to use up which seemed like a great way to add healthy fats especially to my daughter’s meal. Any excuse I have to buy water chestnuts I will take! They add such a delicious fresh crunch and I love the taste. We also had a fresh pineapple that needed to be eaten. I ended up cutting it up to serve as a side dish. Next time I make it I will definitely include some sprouted brown rice. This is my new favorite. The benefits of a sprouted grain and a brown rice plus a shorter quick time. The sprouted brown rice cooks in 30 minutes compared to 45 minutes.

Notes
Keep your fresh ginger in your freezer to slice the skin off with a knife and grate into your food! Way easier than dealing with all the fibers.
Great additions to this meal would be some sprouted brown rice prepared with bone broth and some fresh pineapple

what makes a meal family friendly?
I love when a meal allows for custom changes to add to the preferences or dietary needs of each person. It makes everyone happier and meets more needs. Kids tend to like the handheld aspect of the leaf and the ability to customize their own plate. If they are too little or make too much of a mess, there’s always an option for you to assemble it too. You could even eat this “bowl style” over a bed of rice, cut lettuce or both!
last minute convenience + good leftovers
These Macro Family Friendly Turkey Lettuce wraps were definitely a hit with my family and the leftovers were great. I really appreciated having something fresh and quick that didn’t require prepping the crockpot earlier in the day. This will also be a great meal to eat in the summer when it’s hot!
